Yes, I would say me and Bud have a pretty good bond...usually, hah, he's such a nutcase.
No that's not Bud in my picture, Bud's an appaloosa, I do have pictures on my profile of him.
The horse in my picture is one of my miniatures - Oreo.

Thanks for the offers of advice with my horse's 'issues' but they are all just a story I've been over a million times. It is what it is. Now I don't try to force him to wear a saddle and then get on his back and control him and we are both much happier.

The buckskin horse you see in my picture was my best friend for almost 21 years. I purchased him as my first horse when I was 22. I had to put him down last year, Nov 11th - Rememberance day. He was almost 29 years old. He taught me so much, and I learned so much with him. I still miss him every day, even though I have 2 others. My new horse, who I lucked into purely by chance last year, is so similar in personality, even though a totally different colour and breed, that it brought me to tears in my lesson last week. I believe that somewhere the gods or fates knew I was losing my horse of my lifetime, and I was sent this new one to help ease my loss.

Buds definately a challenge, and I think that's why i love him so much! and the fact that i've had him since he was born.

This may sound funny, but I like a horse that's a challenge! I find that Id rather create a great horse, than have a push button one. I feel proud that the end result is all me.

I'm sure I can help give you advice on the horse your riding that had issues.
My gelding has "issues" hah I love him to death, but he has issues and I've learned to deal with them, and work with them.
So what kind of issues is it? Like excitment? Or bucking? Being bad?

Same thing happened to me, my next riding horse having issues. Luckily I had Hat to remind me how much fun riding can be. I was sort of lucky that when I lost Hat Tricks, in that I already knew that even close relatives of his did not have the same wonderful disposition. I did ride a comparable horse for a while, but that horse was so much less understanding of human weaknesses!
Even today I wonder how I had so much good luck to actually get Hat Tricks, and that was 39 years ago. We are among the fortunate ones, those who perfect horse was our first horse. Usually horsemen have to go through several horses until they get their best one. I was so incredibly lucky to get my best horse first. Of course every other horse suffers in comparison and it took me a while to learn how to appreciate other horses.
I still do not particularly like riding horses with lots of "issues". You are a brave woman. I've been there and done that.

I didn't buy my 'new' horse as a replacement - I bought him 6 years ago and it's taken me that long to realise that he wasn't what I had hoped he would be. He's gorgeous (as you can see by the photo) but he's not what I thought. In a not good way. He is a man with issues! Ha ha. But that's ok. There's no comparison with Misty and there never has been. What I mean is that now I've let go of focusing all my emotional energy on him I can finally acknowledge what Misty also meant to me.
