This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini mares at Mulligans Run Farm. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Comment by Kate Green on April 28, 2012 at 11:06am Poor Heather and Shannon have to be completely drained! By all rights, he looked so perfect, seemed so perfect till it came time to nurse. This has to be driving them nuts. Hope he comes around quickly.
Comment by Heather Troglauer on April 28, 2012 at 9:49am Ahh..I'm so frustrated. The last message I have is from Lesley 6 hours ago. I get notification in me mail box that there are updates but they are not coming through on Mare Stare. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Of course, I probably won't be able to access your comments. Could you please try Chat Privately, maybe I can pick your message up there. Thanks lots.
Comment by Lesley R on April 28, 2012 at 2:24am I just got a message from Heather Freya and her colt are both doing fine. They are working on getting him to nurse on his own and he is being a typical stubborn little boy lol. Freya being a maiden isn't quite sure what is going on lol but she will get it figured out.
Comment by Kate Green on April 27, 2012 at 10:11pm I was hoping the cam would be back up, but no luck. Hope all is well with Freya and her little boy.
Comment by Tracy McDermott on April 27, 2012 at 9:57pm I was watching and the girls unplugged the cam. I'm sure he will be ok. If he can't nurse his mom they have plenty of lactating mares that can feed him. I had to do that with an orphan, we covered the mares eyes with a jacket and held her baby at her nose and slid the orphan in to nurse. He was much gentler than her baby so she must have thought her filly was stretched and on drugs. First thing in the morning, the man living there would feed him with a bottle of foal lac 2hrs later, then we would drive out at lunch to nurse him on the mare with a bottle 2 hrs later, and finally the dinner at 6 with a bottle at 8. We did that for 6 weeks, then he could eat foal lac and mush. He lived to 13 yrs. old in great health but took a mis-step on the long line and broke his 2nd phalanx bone in his front right. We had to put him down for a tiny bone that would never heal and always be in pain. He was a hot Arabian and they do not do well with pain or being quiet.
Comment by Betty Kasper on April 27, 2012 at 9:25pm Freya is still pawing a lot. I would think that means she is having after pains. Once they go she might see him in a different light.
Comment by Stephanie Scotton on April 27, 2012 at 9:21pm I know. Poor little guy. Glad he wasn't hurt. Glad Heather and Shannon are there. He just wants to be with his momma.
Comment by Kate Green on April 27, 2012 at 9:20pm I was really concerned when she bucked and jumped her rear end over him, but he turned out okay. He was just very discouraged.
Comment by Stephanie Scotton on April 27, 2012 at 9:19pm I know. Pearl did it as well in the past.
I do hope she accepts him soon. Poor little guy. :(
