This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini mares at Mulligans Run Farm. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Comment by ann pepper on March 3, 2011 at 1:45pm Wow! it looks like you have beautiful sunshine!! The girls seem to be enjoying it & look very contented. Good time for new foals.
Here in the UK we've had nothing but grey clouds covering the sun for months - can't wait for Spring!!

Comment by ann pepper on March 3, 2011 at 10:12am Thank you so much Heather - I dispair of the human race at times (often) .
I don't know if it's sheer ignorance or not caring, but surely any normal human being must be aware of suffering? Education from an early age & parents who care enough about our fellow creatures to teach their kids that animals feel the same way as we do, is the only way. Heaven bless you for taking in these poor neglected horses, may their recovery be swift. Yours too, migraines are a nightmare & often the result of stress which I've no doubt is so in your case.
xx
Comment by Heather Troglauer on March 3, 2011 at 8:41am Our weather looks lovely this morning Ann. I haven't crept out of the house yet - had a migraine so waiting on the after effects to pass. Temp says 50 with a high of 62, so should be a glorious day.
There are so many neglected horses out there. I don't mind you mentioning The Brooke at all.
We are very likely to be taking in several today or tomorrow that have been neglected - severely. The farm they are at has admitted to having six die this week alone and that they have no funds for food. We are working on getting the horses out as quickly as possible, but they may go to their previous owner's...we are still working all this out.
Beautys Haven has a mini mare on cam now that was rescued from a junk yard. She is heavily pregnant and the vet is amazed that she is all bones and baby...that's it. They have rescued all but one from the junkyard.
Their cam is www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=beautyshaven She's kinda hard to see at times.
Comment by ann pepper on March 3, 2011 at 8:21am When one sees the beautiful condition & loving care given to your lucky charges, I weep at the contrast between them & the poor wretched equines in Cairo & beyond.
I support The Brooke at every opportunity & hope you don't mind me reminding everybody who loves horses, that they need your donations PLEASE. Thank you in advance.
I'm waiting with bated breath for Precious to deliver! How many days has she gone now?
Do hope your weather has improved.
