Marley and Rosy are home finally. It is good to have horses again.
Newfoundland ponies are a mixed breed of horses and ponies that where there from early explorers and from shipwrecks. They are hardy ponies with heavy necks. They where used in coal mines, they plowed gardens and where used as cart horses and riding. They are an all round draft pony. If you Google the name you can find more. I am just learning about the breed my self.
What are Newfoundland horses? I had a Canadian hunter years ago, but haven't heard about Nfld horses.
We have horses again. I bought a Newfoundland mare and her daughter who's sire is an Appaloosa. Rosy is the mare and the filly is Marley who will turn two Sept. 11, 2013. I will be bringing them home as soon as the pasture is ready in May.
Where in Ontario Margaret? I am originally from Belleville, on the beautiful Bay of Quinte. Went to uni at Guelph, and also lived in London. Was back to see my aging in-laws, (mother in law since died) last Oct. Before then, I was absolutely desparate to move back, but I got cured, thank goodness- a long, and expensive move from here, and my husband kept reminding me we couldn't afford to take the horses.
I bet its snowy there Joe!
