A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
Hi,
my name's Catherine, or Cat for short. I have been riding Dressage for the last six and a half years. My current partner is Verdicci, called Chance around the barn. He is a 9 yr old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Krack C. My parents bought him for me when he was five and I was 12 and we have learned so much together during the last three years. Chance is the class clown and he loves making people laugh, he can always make me smile when I'm down. In 2010 we competed at the FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships in Lexington, Kentucky on the U.S. Region 5 Junior Team (about 3rd level). We won the Individual Silver Medal with a 70% and the Freestyle Silver Medal with a 72%! I was so happy with my boy, but I didn't have much time to think about it as we headed straight to the U.S. National Dressage Championships in Gladstone, New Jersey where we were crowned the Junior Reserve National Champions on a 69% average after two days of competing. It was the best summer of my life and I could not have hoped for more. In 2011 Chance and I moved up to the FEI Young Rider level and earned a Team Gold medal on the Region 5 team at the NAJYRC! Now we are back home and preparing for another great season! I also have four dogs and five cats at home so I am very much an animal lover. I am enrolled in virtual school so I can have more time to train in Dressage and get closer to my dream of representing the U.S. in international competitions one day. I know that I always want horses to be in my life and my passion for horses and Dressage will never waiver. Well, that's all about me!

After eleven days in Kentucky for the 2011 FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships, I’m finally home! I had such an amazing time and I can’t wait to share my experience with you. This was my third time at the NAJYRC, but the fun and excitement just grows each year! My NAJYRC experience…

My Young Rider Years ~ Final Preparations for the NAJYRC!

Chance and I have less than one week left to prepare for the 2011 FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships! I can’t wait to represent Region 5 on the Young Rider Dressage team! I have dreamed of being a Young Rider ever since I was twelve years old, so four years later it is great to finally be stepping up to the “big leagues” after competing in the Junior division for the past three years. It is especially great since I thought I was going to miss this year’s… Continue

Hi again.  She did ok once she settled down (started the first day off nervous and tense).  This was her first show of the year after hardly doing anything last year, so I had a feeling she would improve as the days went on.  She ended up in the mid 60's in training level.  Not terrible for her first show this year.  The thing I noticed after riding her is how much strength she developed over 6 weeks with the bereiter.  It's amazing how much more active her trot is!  I'm thrilled about that.

Thanks for checking and best of luck in Kentucky!!!

You can definitely tell how much he's developed -- a lot to be proud of!  My 5 year old is showing this weekend at Dressage At Lexington in Virginia.  I have her showing Friday and Saturday and then she'll appear in The Sport Horse Auction Saturday evening (with a reserve).  If she doesn't sell, I'm hoping to get her back to NY so she can compete at Windy Hollow Hunt 7/22-23 in NJ and then 8/5-6 at Maplewood Warmbloods in NY.  She spent the past 6 weeks in training with a bereiter who has done a wonderful job in such a small time.  I was specifically looking for someone who could help develop her trot while maintaining relaxation and found someone who has done exactly that!  We still have a ways to go, but the improvement is noticeable!

I had one of the girls who was raised riding Big Boy babies (jumpers) in WA visit and try her:  Young hunter/jumper rider  Not bad for a girl who is a jumper rider!

I'm really excited to see hear how you do in KY.  GOOD LUCK!

Hi Catherine!  I just saw the Story Tellers video and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!  You and Chance have come so far.  He truly looks amazing, incredible, international caliber and you can see that he is really strong now so the work has been great for him!  Based on the last post, I guess it's safe to say you're back in the saddle (and hope your elbow is healing beautifully).  Does that mean you're going to the 2011 FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships in Lexington later this month?  Hope so!   You deserve it with all your hard work and dedication!  People are noticing and you should be proud!  BEST OF LUCK!
