Barbara, often the post goes to the heart of the matter and while you may find it offputting, it just says how incredibly real and valid some feel about what is dressage to them. What has happened to riding for the show-sucks, as compared to the com…

I watched RFD today and saw a trainer use it for western riding- the old bump them until their head is down crap- as nothing is any different. A new day is the day you get up and go and ride and make good on the promise to be a better rider.

Profile Information

About Me:
Hi, my name's Catherine. I absolutely love horses and riding and can't imagine a world without them. I currently own one horse right now named Verdicci, or Chance around the barn. He's a seven year old Dutch Warmblood gelding. His father is Krack C, Anky von Grunsven's old Grand Prix horse. He's a goofball and loves making people laugh. I ride and show dressage and we are currently showing the FEI Junior tests and are ranked 4th Nationally. We made the Region 5 Junior Team last year and had the great opportunity to compete at the North American Junior Young Rider Championships in Kentucky July of 2009, where we placed 9th out of 36 riders. We're hoping to make the team again in 2010! I am currently working with Teri Hallman. She's great and I'm happy to be training with her. I also frequently clinic with Christine Traurig. My dream is to become a proffesional rider and trainer when I'm older. Well, that's all about me!

Our Latest Accomplishments:
2010 Won the Junior Team and Individual Tests that the Tucson Dressage Club's Winter Heat with a 67.8% and a 68.6%
2010 Won the Junior Team Test and 3rd Level Test 3 with 71%'s at the Dressage Gettaway in California.
2009 Placed 2cnd and 3rd with a 63.4% and a 66% at the ADA Fall Fiesta.
2009 Won 9th place out of 36 riders individually at the NAJYRC with a 62%, placed 13th in the freestyle with a 64%.
2009 Won the Junior Individual Test at the Del Mar National Horse
Show with a 64%.
2009 Junior Champion at the ADA Spring Show in the FEI Junior tests and Freestyle with two 65%'s and a 67% in the Freestyle.

Fantastic Show in Thermal Jan 15-17!

We're finally home! After a long four day weekend my mom, Chance, and I all made it back safely. We had a fabulous weekend! Chance was so well behaved and he acted like a total pro. Unfortunately Teri couldn't make it over to California but another Arizona trainer, Kim Yacabucci, was able to help warm me up on Friday and Saturday. Here's all the details!

We arrived on Thursday after a LONG drive. It was super windy on the way so my mom had to driver slower than normal. Luckily we made it there… Continue

November Christine Traurig Clinic

On November 5th and 6th I had the opportunity to ride in a clinic taught by Christine Traurig. I had ridden under Christine before and had really enjoyed her lessons, so I was excited to be able to participate in the clinic. The last time I had seen Christine was early in the beginning of 2009, so I was anxious to see what she thought of my horse Verdicci and I. In July of this year we were able to represent Region 5 in the North American Junior Young Rider Championships in Kentucky, where we pl… Continue

We Got 9th at the NAJYRC!

It's been such a hectic summer, I finally have a breather. Chance was so good in Kentucky, and considering he's only seven, he handled everything fabulously. We ended up 9th out of 36 in the Individual test and 13th in the freestyle. It was a blast and I already can't wait untill next year. I think we'll do Juniors again so we have a year to train the PSG. Thankis everyone for being so supportive!

We're Officially Qualified for the NAJYRC!

April 4-5: Chance and I completed our third NAJYRC qualifer and came out with a 65% average! He was very well behaved and had two very steady tests. We also performed our freestyle for the first time and earned a 67%. This was Chance's first freestyle ever and he wasn't quite sure what to do but he listened to me and performed a clean test. I am very proud of my boy! This show leaves us with a 63.9% average for the team. In three weeks we are going to the Del Mar National Horse Show and if we ge… Continue

its pretty sad but it was good timing i guess because my haflinger mare who was lame for 2years just came sound again. Im not riding him at the moment as its breeding season so i can really only ride him in winter as he gets too sill when its breeding season but in winter he is relly good you can even go on hacks with mares and him and go past thm and he dosent do anything so he is really well behaved.

Hi,
In my pics im riding two My Mums arab stallion Marsin and my dressage Pony cracker i think he is a new zealand riding or saddle pony. But we have sadly had to retire him (he is only just turned 10) because he has really bad athritis. We had him xrayed 6months ago and a few weeks ago and his leg has changed as much as it would usually change in 2years if a horse has athritis so its really bad.
I got supreme champion at my last show with my stallion so that was quite good for the stud.

You and Chance look very happy. Does he come to the gate when you arrive so you can get him to spend time together? I love riding but also cherish the time we have just grazing in the lawn. ...sometimes with a good book or magazine.
Enjoy!!

One of my minis did this too so we put the fence boards farther apart so he couldn't rub. You could also try putting wire mesh fencing on the wooden fencing so your mini can't reach through at all
