Hiya, I am not a fan of Anky, she uses hyperflexion in her horses and I personally really don't like the way she trains, Edward Gal, compared to classical riders has a false piaffe, personally not a fan of either of them, but (:

There's also a great video of Edward here...http://www.horsehero.com/1178/23070/23068 It includes an interview with Edward at the World Dressage Masters and we are with him when he hears his record breaking score. Plus see unique footage of his warm…

finding this on your website came as a shock as its my groom doing the calm test that ended with the spectacular halt - she was placed in the class so this shows that even dressage judges do have a sense of humour.....

Profile Information

About Me:
My world revolves around horses - professionally & personally.

I'm the resident shopping queen on the site - running the barnmice gift shop - which means I get to spend my days shopping for fabulous products from all over the world for you to enjoy(it's my perfect job!).

When not in the office, I enjoy having a go at all riding disciplines but my main interest is dressage. I'm also a little bit obsessed with Sport Horse Breeding :-) especially Hanoverians & I'm proud to own 3 fabulous horses, all bred in the UK.

Confusingly, 2 are almost identical full brothers & their stable names are podgy, pg & p, so it gets a little confusing, thank goodness for stable name plates when other people are looking after them for me!

Meet Catherin McMillan - equestrian artist

Catherin is the first artist to feature in the new Barnmice Shop Gallery. You can see a selection of her wonderful work here.

I asked Catherin 5 questions so we could all get to know her.

How do you get your inspiration for your art?

Im really lucky to live on a small property and have lots of animals around me, they inspire me and always bring a smile to my face. From Banjo my old red cattle dog (who is… Continue

lead me not into temptation...

My very very bad dressage trainer told me about these beauties today & I so so want a pair but the fact that they will only be sold through Jimmy Choo rather than normal Hunter welly stockists doesn't bode well for affordable pricing!

Before I became insane & spent all my money running 3 competition horses I had a serious shoe addiction - I'm trying to justify these on the basis that it… Continue

I'm a convert to Roots!

Here in the UK we are experiencing the heaviest snowfalls for the past 20 years. Now I know that compared to the Canadian members of Barnmice, it really isn't all that much snow, but for us UK peeps it's snowy, & cold, & icy!

Luckily, one of my international Xmas presents was a pair of very long & very warm Roots socks - I'm assured that these are essential winter wear for Canadians. Well I'm converted!

So today I lunged my 3 horses by moonlight in the snow (sadly I don't have an o… Continue

My favorite horse :-) This is Podge aka Provence, my baby Hanoverian in his 7th week under saddle (he managed to get a couple of weeks on the subs bench with silly knocks in the field).

He is so much fun to ride & I'm not looking forwards to Monday when it's back to work &a… Continue

Merry Christmas Everyone!

My fridge is full, the last of my online shopping arrived today (nothing like cutting it fine!) & I'm looking forward to a few days of good food, great company & lots & lots of riding :-)

I hope everyone has a lovely festive season & those of you with yards full of horses still manage to take some time off to enjoy.

Wow Chris, what a cool job. I didn't know BarnMice had a gift shop. I've done similar equine shopping for my job sometimes (I work with a company that is hosting an International Equestrian Festival during the 2010 WEG). I just love looking at all the different equine-themed jewelry, art, shoes, and apparel that is out there!

Hello Chris

Sorry this message is so late. I am not always on the site. Sometimes I think the computer is attached to my hip as I work all on a computer and then come home and view some more.

Thank you for your post on the Baroque group. I own a dun Lusitano. He is 5 years old. Unfortunately I notice a bit of gray coming through. I think he will eventually turn gray as he gets older. I wanted a gray, got a dun. The one nice thing about having a dun is that he covers the dirt well.

Love your pictures, especially the one on the beach. I have yet to ride on the beach. One of the things I would like to do.

Hi Chris...thank you for your comments re the Micklem Multibridle. It is truly designed from the skull of the horse - from the inside out - because I am only too well aware that so many horses suffer from cranked up cavesson and flash nosebands, when the sensitive tissue on the inside of the mouth is squashed and bruised and lacerated between the protruding outer edge of the upper jaw molars and the noseband on the outside, and from too low dropped nosebands which often fracture the fragile nosebones. Look at the picture of the skull on my web site. Having found the right design for this it was a no brainer that it would also work wonderfully as a lunge cavesson or bitless bridle as well as a standard bridle. We need exert our influence as coaches and ensure we have better fitted tack. Regards, William PS The Micklem bridle has exceeded all my expectations...horses go so well in it and I my smile gets bigger!

Hi Chris,
As a Trigger Point Myotherapist, I check for range of motion, look for tp's (knots within the muscle), use various techniques to reduce these knots that can storten range of motion. Then apply stretching and exercises to re educate the muscle memory. Thats the short of it. I am currently working on a website, www.rosehillfarm.ca should be up and running within the week.
I dont know of any certified TPM's in the UK, mostly in the US as that is where the schooling is. I am one of 3 in Canada.
Hmmm maybe I should come to the UK and do some clinics? that would be a lot of fun, and I have never been there.
Becky-Lou
