Running Em Cheap.

I enjoyed my brief time working as a groom at Hastings Park Racetrack here in Vancouver BC. Apart from getting yelled at for not shoveling fast enough or putting foreign race tack on incorrectly.. overall very good learning experience. I learned some pretty great phrases while I was there too, as well as how to truly 'do it yourself'.

It was a real reality check for me. I had come from pretty pretty princess hunter world where my tack was polished, my horse was polished and I…

The Thrifty Boarder!

I'm sure a lot of folks who self board their animals have had this happen once or twice.. 'Oh look, the feed bill came, how much is it this month?'... -insert jaw drop, eye pop, and then possibly a thwack after hitting the ceiling + string of expletives- Mine got to 700 dollars for TWO HORSES a few months ago FOR ONE MONTH. 'WTF!'

My first…

Epic Bails: Not Seeing The Forest For The Trees

I think a huge part of being a good rider is knowing when to ask for help... and being able to make informed decisions without necessarily following the flock...

I've been riding for over 15 years. I wouldn't call myself a professional, there's been the odd time I've accepted money for lessons or for a training ride or two, but horses are not my main occupation by any means. That being said, I would say my knowledge on the topic is comparable to an individual with a level one…

Economic Recovery Stimulus Ideas

HELPING THE ECONOMY

MEMO

TO: President Barack Obama

RE: Economic Recovery Stimulus Ideas

Mr. President, it has come to my attention that you're having some challenges with the economy. If I understand things correctly, we're in a recession, consumer confidence and spending is down, credit is tight, investors are spooked, we need renewable energy, and health care costs are through the roof.… Continue

Hi Michelle:  He has a little bit here and there back 4 generations, but mostly Hanoverian lineage.  I should put his poster online when I get home - it shows his bloodlines and info....

Hi Michelle,
I absolutely love your "Andy Warholish" photos of your multi coloured horse! I was thinking of running as ad similar to that for Red Scarf Equestrian. Love that colour! Your line re: penny pinching gal is sweet!
Cheers and thanks for the reply. I'm trying to figure out what will best work for Red Scarf's clients. Trade shows are very expensive.
