UNBRIDLED Chapter 22: Mrs. Tom Cruise

The truck rattled and banged over the pockmarked road that led to the airport stables. It had been a tough winter, the endless pattern of freezing and thawing had left much of the area’s roadways battered and aged.

Gelden had chosen not to tell Hillary about Tesla’s whereabouts. Not because he felt she didn’t have the right to know, she did. But if he were wrong, if the note had not been about Tesla, if Maxim’s cryptic T.E.S. had stood for something else entirely (take Echinacea… Continue

Saddlebred Charter Club

Dear fellow Saddlebred friends,

As many of you know, promoting Saddlebreds is a big responsibility for Saddlebred owners, trainers, and riders. Some areas of the country are better represented with ASB clubs and shows than others, and that is why I am writing to you today. Northwest Indiana and the Chicago south suburbs could benefit from a regional charter club for Saddlebreds, and I am proposing that we do just that. I have secured a domain name (nwisa.com) and have filled out the ASHA… Continue

Last post of my training trip :(

My trip has now been finished off with three days at Talland. They were three very good days and as always, I learnt a lot.

Every day this time and last time I was there I rode a mare called Jovie, who I got along well with. She was trained to about Prix St George, which is perfect for me to learn on. She had to be ridden with a very soft contact and mainly from the seat, as if you had too much contact she just went faster and faster! 'Quick-releases' helped her come up in front and… Continue

Yorkshire Riding Centre....hmmm

What I'm about to say is not inspirational, as my trip to Yorkshire has been very... interesting, to say the least. The area of Yorkshire is fine and very beautiful, with big farms and delicious tea, but Yorkshire Riding Centre is a place I would rather not go to again.

I was supposed to stay at YRC (Yorkshire Riding Centre) for the week, but after the first night and the first day of group lessons I was not very impressed. The second day was not any better. I didn't come halfway… Continue

Death Grip and Survival Instinct

So I had an extremely interesting ride today. It's been a couple weeks since I have gone out to the barn, but with clients coming out tomorrow I really had to get on a couple of the buggers to get them ready.

My first ride was great! The horse is extremely trustworthy and equally good outside as he is inside - a total ammy horse!

The second ride... Well this is where things got fun. The mare is not only chestnut, but Trakehner too. (Not to say that all chestnut mares or… Continue

so now I'm known as the crazy horse lady at the office

Last week I had to go to a meeting in the city centre (I live in a small village on the outskirts). I also needed to collect a pallet of feed as my horses are trialling a new mix from Winergy. As the feed store is on the way, I decide to drive the horse lorry & grab the feed on the way home.

So picture me in a suit & high heels trying to park up a horse truck in the city centre! I'd also popped my… Continue
