Even though he states in the video link he hasn't had any formal training doing this, he believes this is a good method. Anything he missed Barnmicers or would this be a good instructional video?
Although not shown, he does state in the link that if the horses were coming at him he would stop and shut off his engine so as not to spook them.

Comment by Jenny Mustoe on March 14, 2012 at 12:32pm Good demonstration of how a spooking horse can suddenly turn into a road hazard. Well done to the biker for maintaining a good safe distance; although quietly following can unnerve horses by making them think they're being stalked. As all us horseriders know, there's no pleasing some horses.
Comment by Jenny Mustoe on March 14, 2012 at 12:27pm I don't think the horse riders should have waved the biker on just because there was a 'gap' - there was a clear road after!
On the whole bikers are getting much better with horse riders and understanding that horses may just react a little differently from other modes of transport.
My pony doesn't like the reflective visors, noise and speed don't upset her.
We've got to train those sneaky cyclists next...
Seems like a nice, polite, video.
