Tommie Turvey working his horses at Liberty. Liberty is without tack or saddle. The only communication he has with his horses is by his voice and body language. He uses the q-stick (whip) as an extension of his hand to direct and tap, while he uses the horsehair neck rein to get response while riding bareback and bridleless. This shows the incredible trust you can build with your horses with Tommie's simple training principles. Enjoy this unique look at Tommie and his horses at his facility.

I couldn't help but notice the ears of Tommie's horses, indicating horses that are relaxed. I also didn't see him offer food rewards. When I watch Ellen Ofstad with her horse it's ears denote that it's not relaxed and perhaps performs in anticipation of the treats which she doles out liberally. I am not passing judgement, just an observation. Is there a connection? On several instances I had the impression that Ellen's horse considered perhaps biting her. The horse's body language is interesting.
